A centuries-old Himalayan recipe, made for your dog.
From the roof of the world

A centuries-old Himalayan recipe, made for your dog.

In the mountain villages of Nepal, herders have made a hard cheese called chhurpi for generations. Milk is slowly boiled, pressed and air-dried until it becomes a dense, long-lasting chew.

We import Chanky chews directly from Nepal and bring them home to Nova Scotia — so your dog gets the real thing.

Yak & cow milk

Questions

Good questions from good owners

What is a Himalayan yak chew?

It's a traditional hard cheese from Nepal, known as chhurpi, made from milk that's boiled, pressed and air-dried until it's rock-hard. Dogs gnaw it down slowly, softening the surface as they chew.

How long does one chew last?

It depends on your dog. Gentle chewers can make one last for days, while power chewers will get through it faster. Choosing the right size (or sizing up) helps it last longer.

Which size should I buy?

Use our size guide above and match the chew to your dog's weight. If your dog is between sizes or chews aggressively, go one size up.

What do I do with the last little piece?

Don't throw it out! Once the chew is small enough to swallow, take it away, soak it in warm water for a few minutes, then microwave it for about 45–60 seconds until it puffs up. Let it cool completely and serve it as a crunchy treat.

Are they safe for puppies?

We recommend waiting until your puppy's adult teeth have come in. As with any chew, always supervise your dog and check with your vet if your dog has any dietary sensitivities.
